If she should wish thus: “I desire a son who is large, fair, amber-eyed, vigorous, pure, and endowed with sattva,” then, beginning from the bath of purification, one should constantly give her to drink, time after time for seven days, in a silver or bronze vessel, a churned drink of fair barley mixed with honey and ghee, stirred into the milk of a white cow with a matching calf; and in the morning she should eat preparations of rice and barley mixed with curds, honey, and ghee, or with milk; likewise in the evening her shelter, bed, seat, drink, clothing, and ornaments should be fair; and evening and morning she should continually look upon a large, white, noble bull or stallion, adorned with yellow sandalwood on its limbs.
