evam ācārato dṛṣṭvā dharmasya munayo gatiṃ
sarvasya tapaso mūlam ācāraṃ jagṛhuḥ param //
The sages who saw that the sacred law is thus grounded on the rule of conduct, have taken good conduct to be the most excellent root of all austerity.
