ūrdhvaṃ nābher medhyataraḥ puruṣaḥ parikīrtitaḥ
tasmān medhyatamaṃ tv asya mukham uktaṃ svayaṃbhuvā //

Man is stated to be purer above the navel (than below); hence the Self-existent (Svayambhu) has declared the purest (part) of him (to be) his mouth.
