varaṃ svadharmo
paradharmeṇa jīvan hi sadyaḥ patati jātitaḥ //

It is better (to discharge) one's own (appointed) duty incompletely than to perform completely that of another; for he who lives according to the law of another (caste) is instantly excluded from his own.
