vṛṣabhaikādaśā gāś ca dadyāt sucaritavrataḥ
avidyamāne sarvasvaṃ vedavidbhyo nivedayet //

The slayer of a cow who serves cows in this manner, removes after three months the guilt which he incurred by killing a cow.
