kiṃ cid eva tu viprāya dadyād asthimatāṃ vadhe
anasthnāṃ caiva hiṃsāyāṃ prāṇāyāmena śudhyati //
But for destroying one thousand (small) animals that have bones, or a whole cart-load of boneless (animals), he shall perform the penance (prescribed) for the murder of a Sudra.
