yair abhyupāyair enāṃsi mānavo vyapakarṣati
tān vo 'bhyupāyān vakṣyāmi devarṣipitṛsevitān //

For the expiation of offences for which no atonement has been prescribed, let him fix a penance after considering (the offender's) strength and the (nature of the) offence.
