yad dustaraṃ yad durāpaṃ yad durgaṃ yac ca duṣkaram
sarvaṃ tapasā sādhyaṃ tapo hi duratikramam //
Medicines, good health, learning, and the various divine stations are attained by austerities alone; for austerity is the means of gaining them.
