vidyayaiva samaṃ kāmaṃ martavyaṃ brahmavādinā
āpady api hi ghorāyāṃ na tv enām iriṇe vapet //

Even in times of dire distress a teacher of the Veda should rather die with his knowledge than sow it in barren soil.
