sammānād brāhmaṇo nityam udvijeta viṣād iva
amṛtasyeva cākāṅkṣed avamānasya sarvadā //

A Brahmana should always fear homage as if it were poison; and constantly desire (to suffer) scorn as (he would long for) nectar.
