codito guruṇā nityam apracodita eva vā
kuryād adhyayane ācāryasya hiteṣu ca //

Both when ordered by his teacher, and without a (special) command, (a student) shall always exert himself in studying (the Veda), and in doing what is serviceable to his teacher.
