guror gurau sannihite guruvad vṛttim ācaret
na cānisṛṣṭo guruṇā svān gurūn abhivādayet //

If his teacher's teacher is near, let him behave (towards him) as towards his own teacher; but let him, unless he has received permission from his teacher, not salute venerable persons of his own (family).
