ācārye tu khalu prete guruputre guṇānvite
gurudāre sapiṇḍe vā guruvad vṛttim ācaret //

(A perpetual student) must, if his teacher dies, serve his son (provided he be) endowed with good qualities, or his widow, or his Sapinda, in the same manner as the teacher.
