jñānotkṛṣṭāya deyāni kavyāni ca havīṃṣi ca
na hi hastāv asṛgdigdhau rudhireṇaiva śudhyataḥ //

Food sacred to the manes or to the gods must be given to a man distinguished by sacred knowledge; for hands, smeared with blood, cannot be cleansed with blood.
