yasya mitrapradhānāni śrāddhāni ca havīṃṣi ca
tasya pretya phalaṃ nāsti śrāddheṣu ca haviḥṣu ca //
He who performs funeral sacrifices and offerings to the gods chiefly for the sake of (gaining) friends, reaps after death no reward for Sraddhas and sacrifices.
