yāvataḥ paṅktyān bhuñjānān anupaśyati
tāvatāṃ na phalaṃ tatra dātā prāpnoti bāliśaḥ //
The foolish giver (of a funeral repast) does not reap the reward for as many worthy guests as a man, inadmissible into company, can look on while they are feeding.
