yathā caivāparaḥ pakṣaḥ pūrvapakṣād viśiṣyate
tathā śrāddhasya pūrvāhṇād aparāhṇo viśiṣyate //
As the second half of the month is preferable to the first half, even so the afternoon is better for (the performance of) a funeral sacrifice than the forenoon.
