sa tān uvāca dharmātmā maharṣīn mānavo bhṛguḥ
śrūyatāṃ yena doṣeṇa mṛtyur viprān jighāṃsati //
Righteous Bhrigu, the son of Manu, (thus) answered the great sages: 'Hear, (in punishment) of what faults Death seeks to shorten the lives of Brahmanas!'
