adharmaprabhavaṃ caiva duḥkhayogaṃ śarīriṇām
dharmārthaprabhavaṃ caiva sukhasaṃyogam akṣayam //
On the infliction of pain on embodied (spirits), which is caused by demerit, and the gain of eternal bliss, which is caused by the attainment of their highest aim, (gained through) spiritual merit.
