|| pūrvve ūrddha tuṣṇiṃ chedayet keśaṃ || gomaya bhāṇḍe nidhāye ||
karṇābheda maṃtra || oṃ bhadraṃ karṇebhi || tataḥ kumāra saśire ||
kṣūrabhramaṇaṃ || oṃ yatkṣūreṇa majjayatāsupetasāvaplāvovapatikeśān
chindhi śiro māsyāyuḥ pramoṣī || mupananopika caṃdramaṇḍala
kṣuratayāvahlāyamaṃtra || oṃ akṣunnaṃ parivapet || nāpikena śiṣo vāhikena
sarvvaṃ chedayet || gomaya bhāṇḍa nidhāya || samudra vāhayet keśa || kumāra
snānaṃ || moṃḍasagolocananatale || lāsālahe || yajñasiṃhāsane dakṣinabhāge
svastikāsana upaviśya || nṛvaṃcchaṇādi || arghapātra laṃṣanahāya ||
svānataṃnake || metaṃphaṃ || tāḍacā sagonanaṃṭvāya || vastraviye ||
caṃdanādi āśīrvvāda || moṃḍasasostikacoya || bhoyumalanaphoya ||

tave jīvanāya suślokyāya svastaye ||" Cut [the hair]. Having placed the hair into the cowdung vessel, in the east and upper part one should cut the hair silently. Having placed [it] in the cowdung vessel, the mantra for piercing the ears: "oṃ bhadraṃ karṇebhiḥ...". Then, revolving the razor over the boy's head: "oṃ yat kṣureṇa marjayatā supeśasā vaptā vapasi keśān chindhi śiro māsyāyuḥ pramoṣīḥ". Shaving a circle like the lunar disc with the barber: "oṃ akṣuṇṇaṃ parivapet". The entire hair is to be cut by the barber along the edge of the head. Having placed [the hair] into the cowdung vessel, one should cast the hair into the sea [or river]. Bathing of the boy.
