kṛtvā sarpākṛtiṃ śūppe nidhāya prārthaye dahiṃ .
ehi pūrvaṃ sarpa mṛtaḥ asmin piṣṭhe samāviśa .
saṃskārārda mahaṃ bhakyā prārdhayāmi samāsataḥ .. 6

having fashioned the form of a serpent and placed it on a winnowing basket, one should pray to the serpent:
"Come, O serpent who died formerly; enter into this flour [image]!
For the purpose of the funerary rite, I pray with devotion, in brief." // 6
