bhaumaṃ carasthira bhavaṃ tacchāṃti bhirāhataṃ śamamupaiti .
nābha samupaiti mṛdutāṃ śāmyatino divyamityeke .. 5

Terrestrial [portents], arising from moving and stationary things, come to pacification when struck down by propitiatory rites.
Atmospheric [portents] attain mildness, [while] celestial [portents] are not pacified—so say some. (5)
