Now begins the ritual manual of the propitiatory rite for the site composed by our father: / On an auspicious day prior to the stated day of house-entering, in the forenoon, being pure together with his wife, having performed breath control, having remembered time and place, having made the ritual resolution: "For the sake of accomplishing auspiciousness for this site at the beginning of the house [construction] and the like, I shall perform the propitiatory rite for the site together with the nine planets"; having made the ritual resolution: "As subordinate parts of that, I shall perform the worship of Gaṇapati, the puṇyāhavācana, the worship of the Mothers, the Nāndīśrāddha, and the appointment of the preceptor and other priests"; having performed those, and having appointed the preceptor and other priests, he should worship them with ornaments, garments, and other gifts—there are four officiating priests there. Then, the preceptor, having made the ritual resolution: "I shall perform the rite", should scatter white mustard seeds with these mantras: // 1
