Then he should sprinkle him with [the verses] beginning with "surās tvā...". Of "tac chaṃyoḥ...", Śaṃyu is the sage, the Viśvedevas are the deity, śakvarī is the metre; its application is in the consecratory sprinkling. Then, having been sprinkled with the water from the sacred pots of Rudra, Nirṛti, and the propitiatory rite, or with other [water] through a hundred-holed vessel, the sacrificer should put on two washed garments, apply the forehead mark (tilaka), wear sacred ashes, worship the ācārya and others preceded by the ritual resolution, and give them a priestly gift (dakṣiṇā).
There, he should give to the ācārya a milch cow with her calf along with a priestly gift.
Kaśyapa, however, states:
"He should give a bull and a lump of iron to the ācārya along with a priestly gift." To the brahman priest, a bull; to the reciter of the Rudra mantras, a black draft-ox; and having given priestly gifts to the officiating priests according to his capacity, having given an abundant additional gift, having performed the concluding worship of Nirṛti and the rest, having dismissed them with "Rise up..." or "...unto Indra..." and "May the hosts of gods go...", having received unbroken rice grains and blessings from the hand of the ācārya, having worshipped the fire, having dismissed it with "Go, go...", having fed a hundred, fifty, or ten brāhmaṇas, having had the propitiatory hymn (śāntisūkta) recited, having muttered "yasyāḥ smṛtyā...", and having dedicated the rite to the Lord, he should eat.
