kṛtvā yajñopavītāni navāni vasudhādhipa | hutvāgnau gurave dattvā pitṛbhyo dhārayet tataḥ

Having made new sacred threads, O ruler of the earth, / having offered [oblations] into the fire, and having given [a thread] to the teacher and [offered] to the ancestors, he should then put it on.

O king, having made new sacred threads, offered into the fire and given (one) to the teacher (and) to the ancestors, one should then put them on.
