ekavarṣe hate vatse kṛcchrapādo vidhīyate | abuddhipūrve puṃsaḥ syād dvipādas tu dvihāyane | trihāyane tripādaḥ syāt prājāpatyam ataḥ param

When a one-year-old calf is killed unintentionally, a quarter-kṛcchra penance is prescribed for a man; / but for a two-year-old it should be two quarters; / for a three-year-old it should be three quarters; beyond that, a Prājāpatya penance.

For killing a calf of one year unintentionally a quarter-Kṛcchra is prescribed for a man; for one of two years half; for one of three years three quarters; beyond that the Prājāpatya.
