janane maraṇe nityam āśaucam anudhāvati | sapiṇḍān mātṛbandhūṃś ca yatra kvacana gacchataḥ

If what is undrinkable has been drunk, and what is inedible has been eaten, / and intercourse with an illicit woman has been performed by a Brahmin carried off by Mlecchas,

At a birth or a death impurity always pursues the sapiṇḍas and the mother's kin, wherever they may go.
