yo dātuṃ na vijānāti prāyaścittaṃ dvijottamaḥ
śuddhiṃ dadāti nānyasmai tadaśuddheḥ sa bhojanam
The best of the twice-born who does not know how to grant penance / does not give purification to another; he becomes a partaker of that impurity.
