yat phalaṃ kapilādāne kārttikyāṃ jyeṣṭhapuṣkare .
tat phalaṃ ṛṣayaḥ śreṣṭhā viprāṇāṃ pādaśaucane .. 4.10 ..

Whatever fruit is gained by the gift of a brown cow on the full moon of Kārttika at Jyeṣṭha Puṣkara,
that fruit, O excellent sages, is gained by washing the feet of brahmins.
