prapadye prāñjalirviṣṇumakṣayyaṃ bhaktavatsalam
purāṇaṃ puruṣaṃ divyamadbhūtaṃ lokapāvanam
with folded hands I take refuge in Viṣṇu, the imperishable, affectionate to His devotees, / the ancient divine spirit, wondrous, the purifier of the worlds.
