dharmaśāstretihāsādi sarveṣāṃ śaktitaḥ paṭhet
kṛtatvādhyāyaḥ prathamaṃ tarpayeccātha devatāḥ
He should read treatises on socio-religious duty, histories, and the like, according to his capacity, for everyone. / Having completed the Vedic recitation, he should then first gratify the deities:
