romāṇi prathame pāde dvitīye śmaśru vāpayet /
tṛtīye tu śikhā dhāryā caturthe saśikhaṃ vapet //
In the first quarter [of the penance] he should have his body hair shaved, in the second his beard; / in the third the topknot should be kept, and in the fourth he should shave including the topknot.
