brāhmīputraḥ puruṣān ekaviṃśatiṃ punīte ||

A son procreated in a Brâhma marriage redeems (or sends into the heavenly abodes hereafter mentioned) twenty-one men (viz. ten ancestors, ten descendants, and him who gave the damsel in marriage).
