Vaiṣṇava Dharmaśāstra 59.15

bhikṣvabhāve grāsamātraṃ gavāṃ dadyāt ||
For giving alms and showing due honour to the recipient (by pouring water on his hands both before and afterwards) he obtains the same reward as for giving a cow.
