Vaiṣṇava Dharmaśāstra 6.43

yam arthaṃ pratibhūr dadyād dhanikenopapīḍitaḥ
ṛṇikas taṃ pratibhuve dviguṇaṃ dātum arhati //
If the surety, being harassed by the creditor, discharges the debt, the debtor shall pay twice as much to the surety.
