sāyaṃ prātas tv atithaye pradadyād āsanodake
annaṃ caiva yathāśaktyā satkṛtya vidhipūrvakam //
Whether he arrives in the evening or in the morning, he must offer a seat and water to his guest, and food, to the best of his ability, after having shown him marks of honour as the law directs.
