deśabhaṅgo bhavettatra durbhikṣaṃ copajāyate .
nandāyāṃ darśayuktrāyāṃ yatra syānmama pūjanam ..
tasmādbhadrānvitā rājan ! navarātre praśasyate .
āśvine māsi me bhaktaiḥ karttavyā śuklapakṣajā ..
pratipattrimuhūrttā yā putrapautrapravarddhinī .
dhanavṛddhikarī puṃsāṃ sarvvasaukhyakarī tathā ..
ato'nyathā na karttavyā navarātravrate mama . ityādi .

"There will be the ruin of the realm and famine will arise there,
wherever there is worship of me on a Nandā [pratipad] joined with the new moon.
Therefore, O King, [a pratipad] conjoined with Bhadrā [dvitīyā] is praised in the Navarātra;
in the month of Āśvina, it must be performed by my devotees during the bright fortnight.
A pratipad which lasts three muhūrtas increases sons and grandsons,
brings increase of wealth to men, and likewise bestows all happiness.
Otherwise than this, it is not to be done in my Navarātra observance." And so on.
