"In the forenoon the nine leaves are auspicious, granting the accomplishment of all aims; / Caṇḍī is bestowing of health and wealth, and brings victory upon entering auspiciously. / At midday she brings affliction and ruin to people, bringing dreadful battle; / in the evening she constantly brings slaughter, imprisonment, discord, and snakebites. / If the leaves, rich with bilva fruits, enter the house when the seventh lunar day is setting, / it destroys the seven limbs of the king's kingdom and all the happiness of the people, on account of the Mūla [nakṣatra]. / Therefore, having reached the seventh lunar day abiding at sunrise, which bestows good fortune on the king, / the ruler of the earth should bring in that goddess, who benefits all people, avoiding the rākṣasa constellation [Mūla],"
