na nirvapati yaḥ śrāddhaṃ pramītapitṛko dvijaḥ |
indukṣaye māsi māsi prāyaścittīyate tu saḥ ||
'That twice-born whose father is deceased, who does not offer the ancestral rite
month by month at the waning of the moon, incurs the requirement of penance.'
