dattvānnaṃ pṛthivīpātram iti pātrābhimantraṇam |
kṛtvedaṃ viṣṇur ity anne dvijāṅguṣṭhaṃ niveśayet ||
Having served the food, having consecrated the vessel with "The earth is your vessel," / And with "Viṣṇu strode over this," he should place the Brahmin's thumb into the food.
