vidyātapobhyāṃ hīnena na tu grāhyaḥ pratigrahaḥ |
gṛhṇan pradātāram adho nayaty ātmānam eva ca ||
A gift should not be accepted by one destitute of learning and asceticism;
by accepting it, he drags both the donor and himself down.
