sūtake mṛtake caiva trirātraṃ parapūrvayoḥ |
ekāhas tu sapiṇḍānāṃ trirātraṃ yatra vai ||

"Upon a birth and upon a death, there are three nights for two [types of children] of women previously married to another;
but there is one day for the sapiṇḍas where there are indeed three nights [for the father]."
