agniruvāca
matsyāvatāraṃ vakṣye'haṃ vasiṣṭha śṛṇu vai hareḥ
avatārakriyā duṣṭanaṣṭyai satpālanāya hi
Agni said:
I shall speak of the Fish incarnation of Hari; listen, Vasiṣṭha!
For the act of incarnation is for the destruction of the wicked and the protection of the good.
