sumantuścātharvataruṃ vyāsaśiṣyo vibheda taṃ /
śiṣyānadhyāpayāmāsa paipyalādān sahasraśaḥ //
And Sumantu, a disciple of Vyāsa, divided the tree of the Atharvaveda; / he taught disciples by the thousands, [such as] the Paippalādas.
