krītalabdhāśanāḥ snātā ādikartā daśāhakṛt /
abhāve brahmacārī tu kuryātpiṇḍodakādikaṃ //
eating food that is bought or obtained [unasked], having bathed; the primary performer observes the ten days. / In the absence [of a son], a student of the Veda may perform the funerary cake, water offerings, and other rites.
