sarveṣāṃ śāvamāśaucaṃ mātāpitroś ca sūtakaṃ /
sūtakaṃ mātureva syādupaspṛśya pitā śuciḥ //
For all relatives there is ritual impurity from death, but ritual impurity from birth applies to the mother and father; / ritual impurity from birth [properly] pertains only to the mother; the father is pure upon sipping water.
