agnir uvāca
vakṣye buddhāvatārañca paṭhataḥ śṛṇvatorthadam /
purā devāsure yuddhe daityair devāḥ parājitāḥ //
Agni said: / I shall declare the Buddha incarnation, which bestows welfare upon those who recite and hear it. / Formerly, in the war between the gods and asuras, the gods were defeated by the daityas.
