mohayāmāsa daityāṃstāṃstyājitā vedadharmakam /
te ca bauddhā babhūvurhi tebhyonye vedavarjitāḥ //
He deluded those daityas and caused them to abandon the religion of the Veda; / and they became Buddhists, and from them others became devoid of the Veda.
