dviguṇāṃstu kuśān kṛtvā hy uśantastvetyṛcā pitṝn /
āvāhya tadanujñāto japedāyāntu nastataḥ //
Having folded kuśa grasses double, he invokes the ancestors with the verse "uśantas tvā"; / having been permitted by them, he should then recite "ā yāntu naḥ".
