agnir uvāca
prāyaścittaṃ brahṇoktaṃ vakṣye pāpopaśāntidaṃ /
syāt prāṇaviyogaphalo vyāpāro hananaṃ smṛtaṃ //
Agni said: / I shall state the expiation declared by Brahmā, which brings about the cessation of sins. / The activity whose consequence is the separation of life-breaths is remembered as killing.
